Selecting Your Plastic Surgeon in Carson City

Many of the numerous reasons to consider cosmetic surgery begin with a Plastic Surgery Carson City dissatisfaction with one or more parts of the body, but not all. Breast enlargement is one of the most popular procedures in the United States, and has proven a boon to the confidence of thousands of women, but would obviously be of no use to a someone with excessively large breasts (and the neck, back, and shoulder pain they can cause). It's a little less evident, however, whether a woman seeking to regain breast size lost to time, child bearing, or whatever would get better results from a breast lift. Face lift surgery can help you look years younger, but a procedure such as an eyelid lift might provide similar results. And though by no means a method for weight loss, liposuction is useful for targeting specific exercise-resistant fat deposits.

These and other issues are often best addressed by consulting with the right doctor. Nevada plastic surgeon Kent Gabriel is guided by a "therapeutic alliance" with his patients. His highly informative pre-operative consultations are designed to help you make the safest and best decision possible, and that commitment is seen is his surgical techniques and on-going post-operative care as well. If you've been thinking about breast reduction, perhaps you should consider your breast reduction in Carson City, NV.

There Are Many Reasons to Have Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast reduction in Los Angeles serves various purposes for different people. Enlarged, pendulous breasts cause a variety of problems. The medical term for this problem is mammary hyperplasia. The weight of the breasts pulls down on the bra straps which in turn produces indentation of the shoulder skin and discomfort. Along with shoulder and back pain, the surface under the breast may rub against the chest skin producing an irritating rash. Some women even experience difficulty with breathing because of enlarged breasts. Upon the removal of glandular tissue, fat and skin, a lighter, more attractive breast can be created. The lessened pressure on the chest alleviates overall discomfort and improves respiration.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The operation takes about three to four hours to perform. Sutures are removed within one week. Depending upon the size of the breasts, we perform the surgery either at one of our associated hospitals or at The Keyes Surgicenter. Those patients who choose the surgicenter are then transferred to an aftercare facility for one night.

For more information about breast reduction, contact the office of Dr. Geoffrey Keyes, a board certified plastic surgeon in Los Angeles who specializes in all aspects of plastic surgery.

Breast Reduction Surgery for Men - Los Angeles

Chalk up another plus for the internet. Along with free encyclopedias and easily accessible maps, it is now possible to research privately those topics which one might not want to have noised about that one is investigating. Now, lest anyone get ideas about certain explicit topics, the value of which is dubious at best, I am referring specifically to medical conditions and deformities. For example, despite the fact that the statistical majority of men will develop gynecomastia, men with the condition can feel self conscious and isolated. Well known for Los Angeles breast surgery, Dr. Steven Teitelbaum states, "In the past, gynecomastia surgery was mostly done on teenage boys sent to plastic surgeons by their pediatrician. Weightlifters that developed gynecomastia from steroid or supplement use learned about surgical options from reading muscle magazines or from trainers at the gym." Dr. Teitelbam saw a need for an easy, private, reputable resource where men could find gynecomastia treatment information, which led to creating a web site just to address men's concerns and questions about gynecomastia.

Breast Reduction Surgery Can Take Anywhere From Two To Five Hours

Depending on the size of a woman's breasts, the desired post-operative size and the technique used, a breast reduction procedure may take anywhere from two to five hours. Reduction mammoplasty is performed in office-based ambulatory facilities or in a hospital setting. There are some insurance companies that require a minimum volume of tissue to be removed to cover the surgery. This should be pre-determined by your cosmetic surgeon and a letter of pre-determination sent to your insurance carrier along with photographs of your condition to demonstrate the necessity for reduction mammoplasty. Plastic surgeons have various techniques available to alleviate the problem which will most likely be discussed with you when you meet him or her. The most often performed technique involves an inverted T-shaped incision similar to the most common incision used in breast lift surgery. There are several new techniques that are available, but most of these techniques don't apply to many patients.

Breast augmentation surgery is an art and a craft that has to be developed over years with many factors to consider. The most important of these factors, that many cosmetic surgeons make their priority, is to make sure that their patient/s are happy with the results. Usually, they have found over their years that the happiest patients are the people who understand what the art form of breast augmentation is about and what it is limited to. During the consultation with a plastic surgeon, he or she will seek to educate you and bring you into the process of making a decision. Many of these plastic surgeons believe that this will be able to lead you to a decision that you won't regret.

Breast Reduction Aftercare Information

After breast reduction, you'll be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a surgical bra over gauze dressings. A small tube may be placed in each breast to drain off blood and fluids for the first day or two. You may feel some pain for the first couple of days-especially when you move around or cough-and some discomfort for a week or more.
The bandages will be removed a day or two after surgery, though you'll continue wearing the surgical bra around the clock for several weeks, until the swelling and bruising subside. Your stitches will be removed in one to three weeks. You may be up and about in a day or two, but your breasts may still ache occasionally for a couple of weeks. You should avoid lifting or pushing anything heavy for three or four weeks.
Although much of the swelling and bruising will disappear in the first few weeks, it may be six months to a year before your breasts settle into their new shape. Even then, their shape may fluctuate in response to your hormonal shifts, weight changes, and pregnancy.

Large, Heavy, or Hanging Breasts Can Cause Embarrassment and Difficulties

Just as women can be quite self-conscious with underdeveloped breasts, large heavy or hanging breasts can cause embarrassment and difficulties all of their own. Plastic surgeons understand that over-development of the breast can cause a tremendous problem in self- esteem, the inability to exercise, difficulty with posture, backache and unwanted attention.
Many plastic surgeons have spent years perfecting their short scar approach to reduce the breast size, relieve the sagging and improve the breast contour and shape. The nipple is not removed or replaced. Plastic surgeons are able to preserve ducts and sensation to the nipple, though your ability to breast-feed is most likely reduced. Scars are inconspicuous and can be covered by most bathing suits and low cut clothing.
Fortunately, insurance plans may cover breast reduction surgery. However, denial by insurance or a request by insurance that a very harsh or excessive reduction be carried out, prompts many patients to go outside of ordinary insurance coverage to seek help. At many centers for aesthetic surgery, private and comprehensive services are available. The centers pride themselves in providing affordable breast reduction surgery for those who don't qualify under today's restrictive insurance plans.
